<p>Bikram Choudhury, as the name may suggest, is the founder of Bikram Yoga, or better known as Hot Yoga, due to the nature of the environment in which this form of yoga is practiced in. Bikram Yoga consists of 26 signature yoga postures which have been copyrighted by Bikram Choudhury himself, but what makes Bikram Yoga particularly unique is the hot environment in which it is performed. Hence the name, Hot Yoga; the 26 yoga postures are practiced in a room that is set at a temperature of 105 degrees Fahrenheit or higher. Though at a first glance, Bikram Yoga may seem a bit odd and out of the ordinary, it is one of the most popular forms of Yoga practiced in today’s society. Because of the exceptionally hot environment that Bikram Yoga is practiced in, the heat allows the muscles of the human body to become relaxed and more loose, enabling the various stretches and twists incorporated in the copyrighted 26 signature postures created by Bikram Choudhury. The heated temperature also works up a good sweat, releasing toxins and cleansing the body through natural methods without any artificial products. Bikram Choudhury is considered a guru and a genius in the yoga world, and his form of yoga has revolutionized how thousands of people all around the globe practice yoga.</p>
<p>Bikram Choudhury was born in Calcutta, India in the year 1946, and since early childhood, Bikram Choudhury was always a yoga enthusiast. The relationship between Bikram Choudhury and his former mentor and first yoga teacher, Bishnu Ghosh, eventually blossomed throughout the years, and this teacher-student relation actually started a revolution of introducing yoga to people of different nations. At Bishnu Ghosh’s request, Bikram Choudhury opened up several yoga school throughout India, which eventually spread out into Japan, and finally landed in the United States, where Bikram Yoga became an instant hit. Due to the strategic placement of his first school situated in San Francisco, California, Bikram Choudhury’s popularity exploded within the first few years after his school’s opening. Bikram Yoga became extremely popular among celebrities, athletes, and almost anybody who wanted to become fit and into better health.</p>
<p>As a teenager, Bikram Choudhury suffered from a weight-lifting accident which crippled his knee. Doctors at the time did not expect Bikram Choudhury to make a full recovery, and were even doubtful about his ability to walk anymore, let alone practice yoga or continue lifting weights. However, a stubborn and determined personality refused to believe that what he loved doing in yoga was going to be stripped away from him, leading him to find his way back to his mentor Bishnu Ghosh. The ingenious and innovative methods of Bishnu Ghosh had allowed Bikram Choudhury to make a full recovery in his knee, and thus began Bishnu Ghosh’s claims that yoga can cure ailments and heal the body to be scientifically proven.</p>
<p>Bikram Choudhury’s main school is now located near Hollywood, California, and continues to enjoy considerable success and exposure. There are also thousands of certified Bikram Yoga instructors located all throughout the nation, and this form of “Hot Yoga” continues to be one of the most popular and practiced exercises today.</p>

Hot Bikram yoga is very helpful for losing weight because it does many things to your body.  The physical aspects of your body that are changed throughout Bikram hot yoga would be the current state of your muscles and your current state of flexibility. Through the changes that occur to these aspects of your body will cause an increase in weight loss. Hot Bikram yoga is often difficult but very rewarding. Because it has been shown to be very rewarding, people are increasingly turning to this form of yoga as their method of working out a couple of times in a week.</p>
<p>The optimal length of time a Bikram hot yoga class should run is about an hour and a half. This is a lengthy period of time for one to be in a heated area so you want to make sure that you are well hydrated before your hot Bikram yoga session takes place. You want to consistently consume an increase amount of liquids, mainly water, well before your yoga class begins. Although ingesting an increased amount of liquids is alright, you should be sure you do not overeat before your Bikram hot yoga class. If you must eat, make sure it is a light snack such as some pieces of fruit.</p>
<p>You will need to find a yoga mat that you could bring with you to your hot Bikram yoga session as well as a big towel; a beach towel would work. A large towel is necessary in order to keep your yoga mat from getting too sweaty. If your yoga mat is sweaty, it will become too slippery of a surface for you to practice yoga on. The towel will supply you with some grip so that your surface will not be slippery. Although you will not be eating or drinking during the Bikram hot yoga class you should bring water with you. Be sure to wear light clothing that you feel very comfortable in. You can feel free to slip on a pair of slippers or flip flops because unlike other workout sessions, hot Bikram yoga requires that you are barefoot.</p>
<p>Be friendly with the yoga instructor of the hot Bikram yoga class that you have just enrolled in. Your instructor may have specific tips on how you can alter some of your poses to perfect them. As you begin to incorporate these tips into your workout you will be more effective in achieving your goal of weight loss. Bikram hot yoga is an exercise that your body will need to get used to so take it slowly. Hot yoga could be dangerous so be sure to follow the tips and instructions that are provided by your instructor. The amount of sweat you will be working off will show you how much weight you could potentially lose if you stick with hot Bikram yoga.</p>

<p>You should know that the heated environment you will be entering will be at about one hundred and five degrees Fahrenheit. Throughout the ninety minutes that you will be practicing yoga, there will be a sequence of twenty six different positions that are practiced two times each. Bikram yoga is structured so that your muscles are stretched in degrees that are not normally done so throughout your everyday lives. Through these intense stretches your muscles will become stronger. These intense stretches are only approachable due to the heated environment. The heated environment provides the muscles with the capability of being stretched to an increased degree.</p>
<p>Hot yoga also helps to cleanse the body and get your blood pumping. Your body will be provided with a flush of fresh blood that will provide you with newfound energy throughout your entire body. It may be difficult at first to perform all of the poses as directed, but with practice you will be able to achieve your goals. Unlike many other sports, you can begin Bikram yoga at any point in your life. You do not need any previous practice or background with hot yoga in order to get involved. This is a difficult yet entertaining method of giving your body a great workout. The stamina that you gain from these yoga sessions will help you drastically in leading a healthier lifestyle. You will not be bored due to the fact that yoga has many different levels. You may start with moves in the beginner course that might seem easy but once you try it; it’s harder than you would’ve guessed.  From there you will continue to move up onto more difficult moves.</p>
<p>You will practice each move for time intervals between thirty and ninety seconds in order to increase your stamina. You may feel overwhelmed when first attempting Bikram yoga. If you are feeling as though you can’t bear with the heat on top of trying to hold down the difficult positions, don’t feel refrained from taking a breather. People often need to take a break quite often when first learning hot yoga. You must not feel defeated as that is a normal bodily reaction.
